Introducing The F4 Drone Flute 440 Hz in the Major Scale.
IAMSOUND x John Pattern "Experiments in MAJOR"
Our first collaboration begins with my dear friend John Pattern!
Together we have been experimenting over the past year with the MAJOR SCALE
Which is an alternative to the "MINOR SCALE" normally experienced with flutes such as ours (especially drones). These new sounds bring more of a Celtic feel to the melodies, and when paired with a drone it even reminds me of bag-pipes!
We are confident you will fall in love with this new MAJOR addition to your flute journey :)

This Drone Flute is in the Key of F, 4th octave and is tuned to 432 Hz
LIMITED INVENTORY / Check back often for restocks + new colors
- Tuned to 432 hz
- Made from eco-friendly materials
- Sliding airway blocks for easy moisture removal
- Rear opening for optional mic clip and/or wearable strap
- Volcano rings feature for each hole to improve feel (larger island concave on small bottom hole)
- Very portable with connecting pieces
DISASSEMBLY / ASSEMBLY:
This drone flute arrives assembled in numbered pieces. Please disassemble with care if deciding to do-so for portability (slowly wiggle around the joints as you pull). When re-assembling, please follow the numbering sequence. We recommend connecting the pieces part-way by hand, and then finding a hard floor surface (either with a rug or carpet) to tap the rest of the pieces in place until they lock (rubber malot works great as well if needed). We designed it this way to ensure the airways remain tightly sealed.

Real customer stories
It's comfortable to hold, and I love the tone!
Glad you’re enjoying it — that tone really is where it shines! Enjoy exploring your flute!
Great drone but I haven’t really done much on it yet, just a little meet and greet. Been busy pushing fife speed and time gets lost. As I said somewhere else on the site I’m going to have to learn slow calm fingering at distances I’m no where near used to. At 68 that stretch is going to take work and I will get to it. A lot of fun to be had once I figure out what I want to attempt. I’ll find some slower Irish folk /bagpipe stuff here soon. I do love the sound when I don’t rush it. Again ooooold habits! I’d recommend it to anyone regardless of musical background for a relaxing journey. I should take my own advice. Thank you IAS for a cool flute!
Thanks for sharing! Glad you’re enjoying the F4 440Hz Drone Flute — taking it slow makes the sound even more rewarding. Your approach is inspiring, and we can’t wait to hear the tunes you create!
Great sound, beautifully made. And all around great flut. But its very large. My hands have a hard time reaching around it to cover the holes. With this being my first flute, I would have ordered a smaller one to start with. I am not giving up on it, I just need to stretch more. I did order the F#4 drone which is smaller.
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. The C4 Drone is one of our larger flutes, designed for that full, deep tone, and hand stretch can take some getting used to. We’re glad you’re sticking with it and that you picked up the F#4 Drone as well—that’s a great, more compact option to start with. Wishing you lots of progress and enjoyment as you grow with both flutes.
This one sounds badass Thank you So much yall are super easy going thank you for that
We’re glad you’re loving it! Thanks for the kind words—we’re thrilled you’re enjoying your IAS Drone.
