Introducing The D5 Drone Flute 432 Hz in the Major Scale.
IAMSOUND x John Pattern "Experiments in MAJOR"
Our first collaboration begins with my dear friend John Pattern!
Together we have been experimenting over the past year with the MAJOR SCALE
Which is an alternative to the "MINOR SCALE" normally experienced with flutes such as ours (especially drones). These new sounds bring more of a Celtic feel to the melodies, and when paired with a drone it even reminds me of bag-pipes!
We are confident you will fall in love with this new MAJOR addition to your flute journey :)

This Drone Flute is in the Key of D, 5th octave and is tuned to 432 Hz
The D5 POCKET Drone is our smallest and most affordable drone flute! It is tuned to 432 Hz so you can have fun with it in music circles and jam sessions. It's in the 5th Octave which makes it smaller in size and higher in pitch (about half the size of our flutes in the 4th Octave)
LIMITED INVENTORY / Check back often for restocks + new colors
- Tuned to 432 hz
- Made from 100% recycled PLA
- Sliding airway blocks for easy moisture removal
- Rear opening for optional mic clip and/or wearable strap
- Very portable with connecting pieces
DISASSEMBLY / ASSEMBLY:
This drone flute arrives assembled in numbered pieces. Please disassemble with care if deciding to do-so for portability (slowly wiggle around the joints as you pull). When re-assembling, please follow the numbering sequence. We recommend connecting the pieces part-way by hand, and then finding a hard floor surface (either with a rug or carpet) to tap the rest of the pieces in place until they lock (rubber malot works great as well if needed). We designed it this way to ensure the airways remain tightly sealed.

The luminous feature is so cool! I love how this flute plays and how easy it is to take everywhere!
That’s awesome to hear! The 2.0’s portability and luminous design really make it a standout. So glad you’re enjoying it!
A wonderful sounding and well made Drone Flute. Easy to play. The price is very reasonable.
Thank you for your kind words about our D5 Drone Flute in 432 Hz. We are thrilled that you found it to be well made and easy to play. Our team works hard to provide quality products at a reasonable price. Happy playing!
On time. Had to push one section to completely join parts. Packaging, inside padding, was less than I expected. Sounds good. Now to learn to play well. Thanks dp
Thank you for the feedback! We’re glad it arrived on time and sounds good. Wishing you lots of fun as you learn to play and explore your new flute!
I bought the D4 drone in 432hz as I’m interested in more healing instruments these days. However, I definitely recommend the 440hz version if you’re looking to play along to a favorite tracks or other musicians.
I love taking the 432hz with me on hikes, playing this thing next to a stream or waterfall creates a truly novel but nostalgic feeling and experience.
The main recommendation I have for new buyers is, go bigger!!! The D4 is a great introduction to drone flutes but I truly wish it had a deeper more resonant sound which you get from the bigger sized flutes. These things won’t break the bank so I say if your looking at this one for the price, I believe it’s truly worth a little extra to go for the bigger options!!!
Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful review.
We love how you described playing the D4 432 Hz in nature—that connection with streams and waterfalls is exactly what these instruments are made for. Your insight about 432 Hz vs 440 Hz is incredibly helpful for other players, and we really appreciate you pointing that out.
And you’re absolutely right—bigger flutes bring deeper resonance, while the D4 is a great introduction. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and recommendation.
Originally bought the flute for me but when my wife got her hands on it, some of her ancestors with in activated and started playing the coolest melody’s! I personally am struggling but practice makes perfect!!
Hi Gonzo! It's always amazing to see how our instruments can connect us with our ancestors and bring out the most beautiful melodies. Don't worry about struggling with it, practice definitely makes perfect. Keep at it, and we're sure you'll be playing like a pro in no time. Happy playing!
