Introducing The D5 Drone Flute 432 Hz in the Major Scale.
IAMSOUND x John Pattern "Experiments in MAJOR"
Our first collaboration begins with my dear friend John Pattern!
Together we have been experimenting over the past year with the MAJOR SCALE
Which is an alternative to the "MINOR SCALE" normally experienced with flutes such as ours (especially drones). These new sounds bring more of a Celtic feel to the melodies, and when paired with a drone it even reminds me of bag-pipes!
We are confident you will fall in love with this new MAJOR addition to your flute journey :)

This Drone Flute is in the Key of D, 5th octave and is tuned to 432 Hz
The D5 POCKET Drone is our smallest and most affordable drone flute! It is tuned to 432 Hz so you can have fun with it in music circles and jam sessions. It's in the 5th Octave which makes it smaller in size and higher in pitch (about half the size of our flutes in the 4th Octave)
LIMITED INVENTORY / Check back often for restocks + new colors
- Tuned to 432 hz
- Made from 100% recycled PLA
- Sliding airway blocks for easy moisture removal
- Rear opening for optional mic clip and/or wearable strap
- Very portable with connecting pieces
DISASSEMBLY / ASSEMBLY:
This drone flute arrives assembled in numbered pieces. Please disassemble with care if deciding to do-so for portability (slowly wiggle around the joints as you pull). When re-assembling, please follow the numbering sequence. We recommend connecting the pieces part-way by hand, and then finding a hard floor surface (either with a rug or carpet) to tap the rest of the pieces in place until they lock (rubber malot works great as well if needed). We designed it this way to ensure the airways remain tightly sealed.

I have a few wood/Native American flutes (High Spirits and Blue Bear). I have I wanted to try this as it’s a bargain compared to the wood/Native American flutes and am pleasantly surprised. Though the sound is a little different from the wood flutes (less warmth and resonance), it is still very good. I bought 3 more from I Am Sound after this purchase. They are more than good enough and will be great for travel as there’s no worry about big temperature fluctuations and moisture. I don’t even mind having friends and young kids try these out because they are durable and easy to clean. A big THANK YOU to I Am Sound for making these very affordable and good sounding flutes.
Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! 🙏 We’re thrilled to hear that you’re enjoying the flutes and that they’re living up to your expectations, especially for travel and sharing with friends or kids. Your support and kind words mean a lot—thank you for choosing I AM SOUND and for spreading the love!
