IAMSOUND presents the D5 Pocket Drone Flute
The D5 POCKET Drone is our smallest and most affordable drone flute! It is tuned to 440 Hz so you can have fun with it in music circles and jam sessions. It's in the 5th Octave which makes it smaller in size and higher in pitch (about half the size of our flutes in the 4th Octave).
Perfect for hikes or anywhere on the go! The voicing box has built in airways for extra portability and convenience. When moisture clogs, simply cover the airway with your hand and blow the moisture out firmly.
A lot of love and energy has gone into the development of these flutes (along with some flute solos while I watch them print in my basement) and I am excited to see these in the wild!
LIMITED INVENTORY / Check back often for restocks + new colors
- Tuned to 440 Hz
-
100% biodegradable! (cassava-derived material)
- All-in-one voicing box (our smaller flutes have built-in airway structures instead of removable blocks. If moisture clogs simply cover and blow!)
- Rear opening for optional mic clip and/or wearable neck strap
- Very portable & easy assembly! (arrives in 3 pieces / see instructions below)
ASSEMBLY:
This pocket drone flute arrives in 3 pieces. Please assemble with care and match the pieces by following the IAMSOUND logo as a guide. Since this is a smaller flute, it should be fairly easy to push the pieces together by hand. If more force is needed, lightly tap them in place on top of a soft surface.

For around $35, it’s hard not to be happy with this purchase. A couple of YouTube videos were enough to get me playing a simple tune. The sound is similar to a standard recorder, but the dual-tone drone makes it genuinely enjoyable to play and listen to.
Its lightweight and compact size make it easy to pick up and play for a few minutes anytime—at home, in the car, wherever.
My one issue is that the mouthpiece tubes tend to clog up the whistle (labium?) fairly quickly due to moisture buildup. Blowing it out helps, but I find myself needing to do that every couple of minutes. I’m not sure how to fix this, but I do wish there were an easy way to open the mouthpiece for cleaning.
Still, Im surprised by the quality and happy I bought it!
I like how light it is and the price! The only thing i don’t t like is that i feel like it’s s off pitch sometimes and that can be annoying when you’re ur trying to play. Im not 100% its the drone flute or myself. I am a beginner myself. My kids love to play it too!
My first flute I ordered sounded off and I messaged the owner. IMMEDIATELY got a respond and we both did trouble shooting with his feedback. I am super pleased with my drone flute. I can’t wait to upgrade to a deeper sound once I master this little drone
Pretty good flute overall. The close proximity of the air holes makes playing one side a little difficult withouth getting a bit of a hiss getting in there.
Hi Richard,
Thanks for the feedback! We're glad you’re enjoying the flute overall. We will look into this.
Very happy….worth the money.
